The National Child Rights Communication Network
The National Child Rights Communication Network was established on the basis of the National Child Rights Communication Strategy drafted in 2010 (in Finnish, valtioneuvosto.fi). The network brings together government bodies, child and youth organisations, and the Office of the Ombudsman for Children.
What is the National Child Rights Communication Network?
The aim of the network is, in accordance with the obligations set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, to increase awareness of the Convention, promote the realisation of children’s rights, and bring children’s rights perspectives into public discussion.
The network maintains the websites www.lapsenoikeudet.fi and www.lapsenoikeuksienviikko.fi, as well as several social media channels. It participates in public debate on children’s rights and organizes annual communication campaigns.
The National Child Rights Communication Network is coordinated by the Central Union for Child Welfare (lskl.fi) and guided by the Ombudsman for Children (lapsiasia.fi). The network’s activities are funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture (okm.fi) and the Central Union for Child Welfare.
